Chickens!

I want chickens. Yes, I know. My husband and kids think I'm crazy, but I want chickens. Just a couple! I don't even know if I can have chickens where I live. Kristi, do you know? Just think...fresh eggs! no hormones...straight from the hen's butt, chicken eggs!

Maybe I need to move to a farm.

I also want to learn how to ride a horse.

fresh eggs from a properly fed chicken are VASTLY superior in taste to what you buy in a grocery store.

i've often wondered about the anatomy of a chicken.

does it really come from it's butt?
does that make an egg, kind of like crusty chicken poop?
or is it from it's egg shoot?
if so, where's it's butt?

i'll stop my questioning there, since it could be deemed as "inappropriate", but i'll have you know, this sometimes keeps me up at night...

I really want chickens too. We went to someones house that had chickens and their chickens were really mean, so I still love the idea of having them but the actual gathering of the eggs really scares me.
We had ducks (we ate their eggs) at our house so I assume chickens would be fine, although I never looked into if it was legal. I've heard of people in the city limits having chickens so I am almost positive it is okay for us.

Justin...all very good questions! and, frankly, questions I have no answers to. I suppose that's something I should research! Also, what happened to your blog? I can't log onto it anymore...is it gone?

Kristi...when I was a kid we had chickens, but I don't remember them being mean. Gathering eggs was the fun part. Cleaning the chicken coop wasn't. Luckily for me, that was my brothers job! Thanks mom and dad!

opinion: right now the whole thought of chickens and their little feathered colons, the coop cleaning, the tiny floaty pieces of down being breathed into my nose or lungs not to mention the "fragrance" they produce, is entirely FOR THE BIRDS!
just sayin'. ;)
