Oatmeal

I love oatmeal with raisins in it, but for some reason I just hate taking the time to stand in front of the stove and cook it. In the last couple of days, however, I've read several blog posts from people who cook their oatmeal in their rice cooker! What a great idea! So, this week I intend to experiment with it and see how it turns out. Most of what I've read says to use a 2:1 ratio of water to oats. No harm in giving it a try, right?

Have you heard of cooking steel-cut oats in a crock pot overnight? I read it here:

We love having hot cereal ready to go in the morning. I suggest buying the steel-cut oats in the bulk food section at Fred Meyer, not in the hot cereal aisle.

I LOVE this idea! I'm with you. There have been days when I really wanted oatmeal (with raisins, brown sugar and a touch of maple syrup), but I ended up with cold cereal because of "time". I also think I'll try Mary's crock pot idea. Here's to eating more healthy!
